Breaking News: Charlton Athletic Receives Huge Blow as Another key man set for club exit with deal at completion level
The Edinburgh Evening News has reported that Charlton Athletic midfielder Scott Fraser is nearing a loan move to Hearts.
Charlton Athletic is on the verge of allowing the Scottish player to depart temporarily this winter. Fraser, aged 28, was notably absent from the Addicks’ squad in their recent League One match against Burton Albion.
According to the latest information from the Edinburgh Evening News, there has been progress in Fraser’s situation, indicating that Charlton Athletic has ‘agreed’ to a deal with Hearts for his transfer. The completion of this move is expected to take place within the week.
Charlton Athletic man to leave
Charlton Athletic’s Scott Fraser is currently under contract with the club until the summer of 2025, having made 22 appearances in the first half of this season, contributing with one goal and five assists. Recent reports from the Daily Record linked him with a potential move to Motherwell, but now Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts have emerged as the front-runners for his signature.
Fraser, who joined Charlton in 2022 and scored nine goals last season, began his career at Dundee United before making a move to England in 2018 with Burton Albion. Following successful stints with MK Dons, where he scored 14 goals, his transfer to Ipswich Town didn’t pan out as expected, leading to his departure just six months into his three-year contract. He subsequently joined Charlton.
The departure of Fraser will not only allow him to move to Hearts but will also free up space and funds for Charlton to bring in new players before the end of the transfer window. This comes at a time when there is increasing pressure on Charlton’s manager, Michael Appleton.
