‘Breaking News: LSU Tigers officially announce the addition of two new commitments.’
Brian Kelly has taken the anticipated step of elevating his promising talents to manage the offense. According to sources at LSU Country, the quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton have been appointed as co-offensive coordinators. In this arrangement, Sloan will take on the primary role of calling offensive plays for the Tigers, while Hankton will play a pivotal role in play design and the passing game.
This decision has been eagerly awaited by many LSU fans, as Sloan and Hankton demonstrated their capabilities as offensive coordinators during the Tigers’ victory over Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Brian Kelly recognized the potential in these rising stars and is now finalizing the details of their roles.
Sloan’s impact extends beyond the field, as he played a crucial role in LSU’s successful recruiting efforts, securing commitments from top prospects like Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 prospect in the country. Meanwhile, Hankton, serving as the Tigers’ passing game coordinator, guided standout wide receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. to exceptional performances. Both Nabers and Thomas Jr. are expected to be first-round draft picks in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.

Looking back at the recent success of the LSU offense in 2023, the team claimed the NCAA statistical titles for scoring offense and total offense for the second time in five years. They finished the season with a 10-3 record, including a win over Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl. LSU led the nation in scoring with an average of 45.5 points per game and total offense with an average of 543.5 yards per game.
The individual achievements of key players contributed to this success, with Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels leading several statistical categories nationally. Daniels set a new FBS record for pass efficiency rating at 208.0 and accumulated 12,749 passing yards and 3,307 rushing yards over his career. Additionally, LSU’s top receivers, Nabers and Thomas, led the nation in various receiving categories.
