For the AFC Championship Game versus the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs have promoted two players from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

In the divisional round playoff matchup against the Buffalo Bills, Pennel delivered a solid performance, contributing two tackles and two stops in 40 defensive snaps. With experience in Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl LV, he brings valuable playoff know-how to the Chiefs.

In May 2014, Pennel inked a deal with the Green Bay Packers after going undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft. He, alongside Jayrone Elliott, defied the odds as undrafted players who secured spots on the Packers roster. Pennel made his debut in 13 games during his rookie season in 2014. Throughout the 2015 season, he started five of 16 games, tallying 24 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble.
