Breaking News: Buffs Confirms The Addition Of Another Preferred Walk-on Commitment for 2024
Angel Lopez, a defensive back from Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County, recently announced his commitment to the University of Colorado as a preferred walk-on. Devin Rispress, the new assistant director of player personnel/high school relations at Colorado, has been instrumental not only in recruiting scholarship athletes but also in attracting talented walk-on players to the program.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 165 pounds, Lopez is set to join the Buffaloes as a preferred walk-on. His decision to commit to Colorado was influenced by Rispress, whom Lopez has known since his sophomore year at Florida A&M University. Lopez emphasized Rispress’s consistent recruitment efforts and credited him for playing a significant role in his decision to choose Colorado.
Lopez excelled at Gadsden County High School in Florida, where he demonstrated his skills as a shutdown corner, recording four interceptions during his senior season with the Jaguars.
In addition to Lopez, other notable walk-on commits for the Buffaloes in the 2024 class include offensive lineman Cash Cleveland, linebacker Gage Goldberg, and cornerback Kole Mathis.
