Deion Sanders once told his son to hit transfer portal during pre-Colorado football Jackson State stint

Before Deion Sanders took on the role of leading the Colorado football program, bringing his entire family to Boulder amid a history of instability, he had already adopted the “Coach Prime” persona as the head coach of Jackson State University.

During his time in Mississippi, Sanders, the former NFL and MLB superstar, once jokingly instructed his son Shilo to consider entering the transfer portal after hearing a less-than-flattering imitation.

“I need you out of my life,” Coach Prime humorously quipped to Shilo, as reported by Sportskeeda. “I need you to get off my team. I need you to transfer and get into the portal immediately.”

Despite the jest, Coach Prime continues to tease Shilo to this day. However, in a recent viral video from February practice where CU’s No. 21 was seen goofing off during drills, it’s evident that Deion is genuinely displeased with his son’s behavior.

Shilo Sanders a troll to not only father Deion, but his brother, Colorado football QB Shedeur Sanders

Shilo has a playful side when it comes to interactions with his family, often teasing both his father, Coach Prime, and his brother Shedeur. In a recent viral video, Shilo humorously called out Shedeur for seemingly overly flaunting material possessions, suggesting Shedeur’s focus on showcasing luxury items was unnecessary and attention-seeking.

“He left the room to get this bag just to flex on his own family,” Shilo jokingly remarked about Shedeur, implying Shedeur’s actions were excessive. “Who does that? But you don’t need this whole bag for a watch, bro. He just wants you to look at the bag extra long. Trust this guy, he just wants everybody to look at the bag right now. He’s just trying to get camera time.”

However, Shilo’s demeanor takes a stark turn when he steps onto the football field. Notably, he made headlines for making threats towards Oregon players and their head coach Dan Lanning before a game, a matchup that ended in a decisive 42-6 victory for Oregon.

While Shilo’s intensity and passion for the game are evident, some may view such incidents as detrimental to his image, especially considering potential implications for his NFL draft prospects in 2025. As he prepares for the upcoming season, Shilo may need to strike a balance between maintaining his competitive edge and ensuring that on-field incidents do not negatively impact his draft stock. Ultimately, beneath his competitive exterior, Shilo appears to be a lighthearted individual who enjoys having fun, both on and off the field.
