Breaking News: Whitecaps FC Confirmed The Addition Of Another Key Player
Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Saturday the signing of Joe Bendik, an experienced MLS goalkeeper, to a contract extending through 2024, with an option for 2025.
Axel Schuster, the sporting director of Whitecaps FC, expressed the club’s intent to bolster their goalkeeping roster with Bendik’s MLS expertise. Bendik’s 12-year tenure in the league and diverse experiences across various clubs make him a valuable addition, adding depth and competition to their goalkeeper lineup. The club is excited to welcome Bendik and his family to Vancouver.
Joe Bendik, reflecting on his move, expressed enthusiasm about joining Vancouver, emphasizing the allure of the city for both players and visiting teams alike. With an eye on the team’s progress from the previous year, he is eager to contribute positively to their endeavors.
Bendik, entering his 13th MLS season, boasts 189 regular season appearances since his debut in 2012. His recent stint with the Philadelphia Union saw him contribute to their success, including their 2020 Supporters’ Shield triumph, starting in 11 out of 14 appearances across various competitions.
Throughout his MLS journey, Bendik has also represented Columbus Crew, Orlando City SC, Toronto FC, and Portland Timbers. His professional career commenced in Norway with Sogndal before he ventured back to the United States, signing with Portland. Prior to his professional career, he played collegiate soccer at Clemson University.
