Breaking News: Sacramento Kings Top Star Hit With Injury Return Date Unknown
Sasha Vezenkov of the Sacramento Kings recently came back from a two-week absence due to a right ankle sprain, only to reinjure the same ankle during a practice session in Oklahoma City.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the incident occurred as the team was gearing up for a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center on Super Bowl Sunday. The team is still gathering information, and there’s no specific timetable for Vezenkov’s return, but he’s expected to be out for “at least a few weeks.”
This setback comes after Vezenkov missed seven games earlier in the season due to the initial ankle sprain suffered on January 22 against the Atlanta Hawks. Despite returning to play limited minutes in two recent games, Vezenkov admitted that his ankle still wasn’t fully healed.
The 28-year-old forward, who signed a lucrative contract with the Kings last July following a successful stint in Europe, has been averaging 5.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in his debut NBA season. While he’s had some impactful performances, his playing time has been inconsistent under coach Mike Brown.
In light of this recent setback, Vezenkov’s return to the court will have to wait as he focuses on his recovery.
