Breaking News: Golden State Warriors Confirmed The Signing Of Another Star Player
The Warriors are set to utilize their recently vacated two-way roster slot by bringing on guard Pat Spencer through a two-way contract, as reported by Anthony Slater of The Athletic via Twitter.
Spencer, known for his standout performance in lacrosse at Loyola from 2016 to 2019, transitioned to basketball for his final year of NCAA eligibility at Northwestern in 2019/20. Despite going undrafted, he gained professional experience with the Hamburg Towers in Germany and the Capital City Go-Go in the G League before landing with the Warriors on an Exhibit 10 contract in 2022.
Over the past couple of seasons, the 27-year-old has been a consistent presence for the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State’s G League affiliate, demonstrating his prowess as a scoring threat this season.
In the 2023/24 NBAGL campaign, Spencer has averaged 12.3 points in 23.2 minutes per game, with impressive shooting percentages of 51.2% from the field and 42.7% from beyond the arc, along with a solid 82.4% from the free-throw line. Additionally, he has contributed 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
With Lester Quinones earning a promotion to the standard 15-man roster, the Warriors are freeing up a two-way spot, which Spencer will now occupy alongside Usman Garuba and Jerome Robinson.
Depending on the timing of Spencer’s formal signing with the team, he could be eligible to participate in up to 15 or 16 of the Warriors’ remaining games. However, it’s anticipated that he will continue to primarily feature for Santa Cruz during this time.
