The Hobart Hurricanes are thrilled to confirm that Nikhil Chaudhary will remain with the team until 2027. Chaudhary, recognized as one of the emerging talents for the Hurricanes, has extended his contract following an impressive performance in BBL|13.
The dynamic batsman and leg-spin bowler made his mark in the Big Bash arena with notable contributions, including a notable debut against the Perth Scorchers where he scored 40 runs off 31 balls. His standout moment came with a knock of 55 against the Brisbane Heat, showcasing his powerful hitting ability with two massive sixes.
Chaudhary’s versatility was evident as he also excelled with the ball, recording his best figures of 2/26 against the Sydney Thunder. Originally from Punjab, India, Chaudhary relocated to Australia in 2020 and caught the attention of the Hurricanes’ coaching staff, particularly Assistant Coach James Hopes, during the KFC Queensland T20 Max Competition.
His consistent performance and positive attitude on the field impressed Head Coach Jeff Vaughan, who sees him as a valuable asset to the team’s culture and playing style. With an average of 25.67 and a strike rate of 142.59, along with five wickets to his name, Chaudhary aims to contribute towards the Hurricanes’ quest for their maiden BBL title in the upcoming season. Expressing his excitement, Chaudhary looks forward to returning to Blundstone Arena for BBL|14, eager to continue entertaining the fans with his celebrations and powerful hitting.
