BREAKING NEWS: The Wolverines Confirmed The Departure Of Another Key Player
Keon Sabb, a former safety for Michigan, entered the transfer portal on February 16th. In a remarkably swift turn of events, he not only selected a new university but has also already commenced his enrollment there.
News of Sabb’s enrollment and decision to join the Crimson Tide at the University of Alabama for the upcoming fall season was first disclosed by an NIL collective associated with the Rose Bowl runner-up. Sabb later confirmed this announcement through a social media post.

Standing at 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 208 pounds, Sabb was a highly regarded four-star recruit and ranked within the top 100 prospects in the 2022 recruiting class, originating from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Despite initially opting for the Wolverines over prominent programs like Clemson, Georgia, Penn State, and Texas A&M, he has now shifted his allegiance.
During his tenure as a freshman, Sabb featured in special teams across four games, preserving his redshirt status. In the subsequent redshirt freshman season of 2023, he showcased his skills in 14 games, tallying 28 tackles, seven pass breakups, two interceptions, and a touchdown from an interception return.
Sabb appeared poised for an expanded role in the upcoming season, especially with Mike Sainristil departing the nickel position in Michigan’s defense. However, the return of Rod Moore and Makari Paige to Michigan suggested potential competition for snaps at Sabb’s natural safety position. Consequently, he is expected to assume the role previously held by Caleb Downs, who transferred from Alabama to Ohio State earlier in the offseason.
While Sabb’s departure undoubtedly affects Michigan’s depth in the secondary, the team still retains established starters. Furthermore, they will look to players like Zeke Berry, DJ Waller, Ja’Den McBurrows, Jyaire Hill, and Brandyn Hillman for additional depth in the 2024 season.
