BREAKING NEWS: Yankees star thinks toe injury will require ‘constant maintenance’ through end of his career
The Yankees failed to make it to the playoffs last season, marking their first absence since 2016. While Aaron Judge seems to have recovered from his toe injury for spring training, he acknowledges that it’s an ongoing concern.
Judge, the standout player for the New York Yankees, endured a toe injury that sidelined him for 42 games after colliding with the right-field fence at Dodger Stadium last season. He expressed the need for continual attention to his toe throughout his career, stating that injuries like this require constant monitoring to prevent recurrence.
The incident at Dodger Stadium occurred on June 3 when Judge made a remarkable catch but ended up tearing a ligament in his toe. This setback kept him out until late July. Despite the injury, he had a productive season, hitting .262 with 37 home runs and 75 RBI in 106 games. Notably, he became the fastest player in league history to reach 250 career home runs and had two games with three home runs last season.

However, the Yankees’ overall performance was disappointing, finishing with an 82-80 record, their worst since 1992, and missing the playoffs. This outcome left Judge and his teammates feeling embarrassed, serving as a wake-up call for the team to strive for better results in the future.
As they prepare to open the upcoming season against the Houston Astros on March 28, Judge finds himself shifted to center field, jokingly attributing the move to his tendency to get injured in right field. He acknowledges the need to play smarter and learn from past mistakes to avoid similar incidents. Despite the position change, he doesn’t anticipate encountering cement walls in center field like the one he collided with in right field.
