JUST IN: Former Clippers center agrees with JJ Redick’s critical comments of Doc Rivers
JJ Redick isn’t the only former L.A. Clipper who holds reservations about Doc Rivers.
The retired NBA sharpshooter sparked discussion on Tuesday with his pointed comments about Milwaukee Bucks coach Rivers, his former coach with the Clippers. Redick criticized Rivers for what he perceives as a lack of accountability, suggesting that Rivers often deflects blame onto his players rather than taking responsibility himself.
One NBA peer who echoed Redick’s sentiments was former NBA center Marcin Gortat. Having also played for the Clippers, Gortat shared Redick’s quote on X accompanied by a checkmark emoji.

Gortat, a seasoned NBA veteran with stints on four different teams spanning 12 years, experienced Rivers’ coaching during the 2018-19 season with the Clippers. Despite starting the season as the team’s center, Gortat was ultimately waived midway through the year, with the Clippers opting to go with the younger Ivica Zubac as their starter instead. This marked the conclusion of Gortat’s NBA career.
In contrast, Patrick Beverley, currently playing for the Milwaukee Bucks under Rivers’ coaching, came to Rivers’ defense on Tuesday following Redick’s criticism. However, Redick finds support from at least one former Clipper teammate who shares his perspective on Rivers.
