LATEST: Rangers fan screwed out of nearly $2K at NHL Stadium Series gets full refund, tickets for MSG game
Anthony Dos Santos, although unable to witness the Rangers’ remarkable rally from a 4-1 deficit against the Islanders at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, received some consolation after a ticketing mishap prevented his entry to the game.
Dos Santos, a devoted Rangers fan, shared on social media that Ticketmaster had refunded the $1,644.95 he spent on eight tickets for the Stadium Series game that he missed. Additionally, the Rangers extended an invitation for Dos Santos and his family to attend an upcoming game in March, promising them lower bowl seats and “surprises.”
The ticketing ordeal began when Dos Santos, 28, purchased the tickets in October using a presale code. However, upon arrival at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, they were informed that their tickets had already been scanned. Dos Santos voiced his disappointment on social media and, following coverage by The Post, received apologies from Ticketmaster and assurances from the Rangers to rectify the situation.
A Rangers source confirmed their plans to host Dos Santos at a game and expressed excitement about the opportunity. Investigation into the ticket issue suggested a possible account takeover, with a “bad actor” breaching Dos Santos’ account to resell the tickets outside of his control. As a gesture of goodwill, Ticketmaster offered Dos Santos a $500 gift card in addition to the refund.
Dos Santos’ story resonated with hockey fans, uniting rival fan bases in support of his plight. Grateful for the overwhelming support, Dos Santos expressed his appreciation and thanked everyone involved.
Despite missing the game, Dos Santos found solace in the Rangers’ thrilling 6-5 overtime victory over the Islanders.
