Breaking News: Philadelphia 76ers Star Player Confirmed To Miss Through Injury With Return Date Unknown
De’Anthony Melton’s return to the Philadelphia 76ers proved to be brief, as he suffered a setback during Tuesday’s loss to the Boston Celtics.
The veteran guard, dealing with back spasms, exited the game after less than ten minutes and remained sidelined. Sixers head coach Nick Nurse confirmed Melton’s absence from practice ahead of their game against the Charlotte Hornets, ruling him out for the upcoming match.
Further evaluation revealed that Melton is contending with lumbar spine bone stress, a condition he has been managing since early January. His return to action in February was short-lived, marked by another stint on the sidelines after just two games.
Despite a promising performance against the Milwaukee Bucks, Melton’s playing time has been interrupted once more due to his ongoing back issues, with no set timeline for his return.
This setback comes at a critical juncture for Melton, as he approaches free agency this summer. Despite averaging solid numbers this season, including 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals per game over 36 appearances, his availability is now compromised by his lingering back injury.
