This Wednesday afternoon at 2:10 pm, breaking news from Pierre LeBrun and several other NHL reporters reveals that the Buffalo Sabres have agreed to trade forward Casey Mittelstadt to the Colorado Avalanche. In exchange, they will receive defenseman Bo Byram in a one-for-one deal.

Bo Byram, aged 22, was selected by the Avalanche as the fourth overall pick in the 2019 draft. This season, he has participated in 55 games, accumulating 20 points with eight goals and 12 assists. Throughout his NHL career thus far, Byram has played in 146 games, boasting 63 points (23 goals, 40 assists) and a plus-16 rating.
Casey Mittelstadt, aged 25, was chosen by the Sabres with the eighth overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. Following a year at the University of Minnesota, he joined the Sabres and has predominantly played in the NHL, except for a stint of 36 games in the AHL during the 2019-20 season.
Mittelstadt has recorded 47 points (14 goals, 33 assists) in 62 games this season and has amassed 186 points in 339 games throughout his career.
