The Oakland Athletics unveiled new designs for their proposed Las Vegas ballpark on Tuesday, signaling their intent to move from the Bay Area to Southern Nevada.
Just out here trying to enjoy my off day but instead I am catching strays based on an artists drawing of my hypothetical batting average several years down the road https://t.co/PHIFhK452G

These renderings sparked significant reactions on social media, with many fans noting the striking resemblance of the proposed stadium to the Sydney Opera House. One noteworthy response came from A’s player Brent Rooker, whose post gained viral attention.
Foolish Baseball, a prominent creator of baseball-related content, shared a zoomed-in image of the rendering’s fictitious A’s lineup, highlighting that Rooker was depicted with a batting average of .303—a figure that seemed improbable given his history of hitting prowess and career batting average of .230.
Rooker humorously responded to this observation, jokingly remarking, “Just trying to enjoy my day off, but instead, I find myself subject to criticism based on an artist’s depiction of my hypothetical future batting average.” In reality, Rooker’s batting average was .
246 in the previous season, his first full season in the major leagues since his debut in 2020. Despite this, Rooker represented the A’s at the 2023 All-Star Game, having hit 30 home runs and achieved a career-high .817 OPS. However, his actual batting average fell well short of the predicted .303 depicted in the rendering.
