BREARKING: 49ers shore up linebacker corps by agreeing to contract with former All-Pro
Following their Super Bowl 58 loss, the San Francisco 49ers were aware of the areas needing improvement, particularly at the linebacker position. On the second day of free agency, they addressed this need by acquiring Eric Kendricks, a former All-Pro linebacker known for his tackling prowess. Kendricks previously played for the Los Angeles Chargers during the 2023 season.
Having spent the initial eight seasons of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, Kendricks joined the Chargers and emerged as their leading tackler with 117 tackles during the previous season. Additionally, he showcased his pass-rushing abilities with 3.5 sacks. With Dre Greenlaw sidelined due to an Achilles injury sustained during the Super Bowl, Kendricks signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday morning. He will now partner with Fred Warner, aiming to bolster the linebacker corps and fill the void left by Greenlaw’s absence.
