LSU’s Kim Mulkey described an emotional scene involving an ailing Last-Tear Poa
During Saturday’s SEC Tournament victory against Ole Miss, LSU women’s basketball player Last-Tear Poa sustained a frightening concussion, leading to a distressing scene in Greenville, South Carolina.
Poa suffered the injury while attempting to draw a charge, resulting in her head colliding with the floor upon falling. Despite efforts to assist her back to the bench with the help of teammates, the Australian athlete stumbled and remained on the court for several minutes before being carted off and transported to a nearby hospital.
During her weekly radio show on Tuesday night, LSU coach Kim Mulkey recounted an emotional incident that occurred on the team’s flight back to Baton Rouge involving Poa and her teammates. Mulkey described the team’s collective effort to support Poa, who was experiencing discomfort due to the pressure on the plane exacerbating her head injury.

Sa’Myah Smith provided a supportive lap, Hailey Van Lith held her hand, Angel Reese rubbed her feet, and Flau’jae Johnson offered comforting gestures.
The touching display of unity and care among the teammates left a profound impact on Mulkey, who expressed her desire to kickstart the playoffs immediately. LSU, with a record of 28-5, awaits the announcement on Sunday night regarding their NCAA Tournament schedule and location.
