Saquon Barkley has acknowledged that he could have managed his departure from the New York Giants more gracefully in light of his online conflict with Tiki Barber.

Previously, they had placed a franchise tag on him, resulting in a $10.1 million deal, though Barkley desired a longer contract. The Giants opted to prioritize Daniel Jones over Barkley, granting the quarterback a substantial four-year, $160 million contract. Had they tagged Barkley again, he would have received $11.95 million, but they chose not to do so or offer him an extension.

Selected as the second overall pick in the 2018 draft, Barkley quickly proved his talent by winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, accumulating impressive stats including 1,307 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.

Injuries have plagued Barkley over the past four years, though he managed to score 10 touchdowns in the previous season despite missing some games due to an ankle injury.
