BREAKING: Record-Tying Eight Teams Selected to NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament
In Charlotte, North Carolina, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) will once again send eight teams to the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, marking the sixth consecutive year and tying for the highest number of teams from any conference. NC State, Notre Dame, and Virginia Tech will lead the ACC’s representation, joined by Duke, Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina, and Syracuse.
Over the last six years, the ACC has secured the most selections with 48 teams chosen for the NCAA Tournament, demonstrating its strength in women’s basketball.
The 2024 NCAA Tournament will maintain its format of 68 teams for the third year running. The First Four games will be held on March 20 and 21 at four of the top 16 host sites, followed by the first- and second-round games from March 22 to 25 at the top 16 seeds’ venues.
Notre Dame, the ACC Tournament champion with a record of 26-6 overall and 13-5 in conference play, will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Albany 1 Regional. NC State, the ACC Tournament runner-up, secured the No. 3 seed, while Virginia Tech, the regular-season champion, will be the No. 4 seed in the Portland 3 Regional.
Other ACC teams like Syracuse, Louisville, Duke, Florida State, and North Carolina have also earned seeds in the tournament, showcasing the conference’s depth and competitiveness.
The ACC has been dominant in the NCAA Tournament, boasting the most wins since 2014 and producing three NCAA Championships and 23 trips to the Final Four. ESPN will broadcast all 67 games of the tournament, maintaining its exclusive television coverage for the 29th consecutive year.
Regional play will take place in Albany, New York, and Portland, Oregon, from March 29 to April 1, with the Final Four scheduled for April 5 and 7 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
