BREAKING: Newcastle United player drops major hint about his future as key decision made – set for summer transfer
Newcastle United goalkeeper Loris Karius is contemplating a potential move away from the club this summer, with Italy being his preferred destination. The 30-year-old, whose contract at St James’ Park expires this summer, has enlisted the services of the Italian agency Circum. Since joining Newcastle as a free agent in 2022, Karius has only made two competitive appearances for the club, being third choice behind Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka. His limited game time includes a debut in the Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester United in February 2023 and a Premier League debut against Arsenal a year later.
Karius expressed his interest in a move to Italy, acknowledging that it would be an appealing option for him, especially considering his partner and child are currently based there. Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, he stated that while Serie A intrigues him, it’s premature to discuss his future in detail. Karius also highlighted his desire to reclaim a starting role, emphasizing his belief in his abilities to perform at the highest level.
Acknowledging the challenges of being a goalkeeper, Karius emphasized the importance of staying positive despite limited playing time and remaining mentally resilient. With Dubravka currently holding the goalkeeping position and Pope expected to return before the season’s end, Karius may have already played his final match for Newcastle.
