BREAKING NEWS: Indianapolis Colts Have Confirmed The Replacement For Quarterback
The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed their key free agents to multi-year deals and also found a replacement for quarterback Gardner Minshew. They bolstered their defensive line by adding Raekwon Davis, who stands at 6’7″ and weighs 320 pounds.
Despite these moves, they still have more than $20 million remaining under the salary cap. CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell graded the Colts with a ‘B’ for their efforts in March, praising their retention of wide receiver Pittman, which was crucial for the team’s development, and their solid work in keeping the core of their defense intact at reasonable rates.
However, Podell found the signing of Joe Flacco peculiar, considering the relatively high cost. Nonetheless, given the escalating prices for backup quarterbacks across the league, Flacco’s $8.7 million contract (with $4.5 million guaranteed) doesn’t seem as unusual.
With $23 million still available in cap space, the Colts could potentially pursue more free agents. They will also need around $9 million to sign their draft class. General manager Chris Ballard has managed to secure the team’s top players while maintaining flexibility in the market, earning the Colts a fair ‘B’ grade as they prepare for the NFL Draft next month.
