BREAKING NEWS: Vanderbilt Add Another Top Star To Transfer Portal
The former three-star prospect, who has two years of eligibility left, will enter the transfer portal. On Monday, sources announced Vanderbilt’s sophomore guard Paul Lewis’s decision to transfer. Lewis joins three other Commodores—Lee Dort, Colin Smith, and Jason Rivera-Torres—who are considering transferring.
Coming from Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, Va., Lewis, a former three-star recruit, played a significant role in Jerry Stackhouse’s rotation. Despite starting only three games out of 31 and averaging 4.4 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 16.2 minutes per game, Lewis struggled with efficiency, shooting 32.1% from the field and 23.1% from three-point range.
Nevertheless, Lewis demonstrated flashes of talent as a bench guard supporting Ezra Manjon and Tyrin Lawrence. He scored a career-high of 18 points against Georgia in February and played a crucial role in Vanderbilt’s victory over Arkansas, contributing 11 points, a steal, and a block.
With two years of eligibility remaining, Lewis could serve as a valuable backup guard for any team. It’s uncertain whether he will follow the path of Rivera-Torres and Smith in keeping the option open for a return to Vanderbilt.
