Vincent Kompany emphasized the significance of Lyle Foster’s return from injury. During his pre-match press conference on Thursday ahead of the Brentford game, Kompany hinted at a potential “surprise” comeback. That surprise indeed materialized as Foster was included in the Burnley squad for the first time in over a month.

The 23-year-old underwent surgery in February to address a longstanding issue, with his most recent appearance dating back to the 2-2 draw against Fulham on February 3.
During the match against the Bees, Foster was brought on in the 88th minute as a direct substitute for David Fofana. However, due to stoppage-time extending well beyond 10 minutes, Foster ended up getting significant playing time.
His return is timely for Kompany, especially with loanee Fofana unavailable for Burnley’s next match against Chelsea due to ineligibility against his parent club.
However, even after the visit to Stamford Bridge following the international break, Kompany is eager to have a variety of options available across the pitch.
“It’s another welcome luxury at last! It’s pivotal for us,” he remarked.
“You could see that Fofana was likely fatigued towards the end [against Brentford], and being able to introduce Lyle with renewed energy, fresh legs, and a threat is immensely important for us.
“At various points this season, due to injuries and other factors, we’ve been without many key players, but hopefully, towards the end, they’ll all return.”
