The fervor surrounding Rempe, often dubbed “Rempe-mania,” remains on hold.

For their upcoming matchup against the Jets at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night, the Rangers are sticking with the same lineup of 12 forwards that they’ve used in the past four games, leaving Matt Rempe as a healthy scratch once again.

This game marks Rempe’s first eligibility to play after serving a four-game suspension for elbowing the Devils’ Jonas Siegenthaler in the head. Despite the team’s recent success, winning three out of their last four games with the current lineup, head coach Peter Laviolette has assured that Rempe will see ice time again in the future.

Laviolette expressed his decision to maintain consistency with the current lineup, emphasizing the importance of keeping all 13 forwards in rotation. He acknowledged Rempe’s contributions, particularly his physical presence and solid gameplay, indicating that Rempe’s absence from this game was primarily due to the team’s recent performance rather than any shortcomings on his part.

In light of Laviolette’s remarks, Jonny Brodzinski is expected to retain his position in the lineup, playing on the left wing of the third line alongside Alex Wennberg and Kaapo Kakko.

Despite his limited appearances, Rempe has made an impact in the NHL with his aggressive style of play, marked by bone-jarring hits and willingness to drop the gloves. In his 10 games so far, he’s tallied one goal, one assist, accumulated 54 penalty minutes, and been ejected twice, showcasing his physicality and intensity on the ice.
