SAD NEWS: Ex-Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts Star discovered deceased
Vontae Davis, a former cornerback for the Miami Dolphins and the Indianapolis Colts, was found dead in his South Florida home on Monday, according to authorities. They stated that there were no signs of foul play.
Law enforcement in Davie, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, responded to a medical issue at Davis’ residence on Monday morning, where they discovered the 35-year-old deceased. The specific cause of death has not been disclosed pending further investigation. Police confirmed they are actively looking into the circumstances.
Drafted by the Dolphins in 2009 from Illinois, Davis enjoyed a decade-long career in the NFL. The Dolphins shared their condolences on social media, expressing sadness at Davis’ unexpected passing and offering sympathy to his family and friends.
After three seasons with Miami, Davis was traded to the Colts in 2012, where he played for six seasons. Colts owner Jim Irsay expressed his condolences and shared a photo of Davis in his Colts uniform.
In their statement, the Colts expressed their devastation upon learning of Davis’ passing, highlighting his contributions both on and off the field.
Davis briefly joined the Buffalo Bills in 2018 but retired after just two games due to injuries and surgeries. The Bills also offered their condolences, expressing sadness at the news and extending sympathies to Davis’ loved ones.
Over his career, Davis played in 121 games, making 22 interceptions and scoring one touchdown. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2015 while playing for the Colts.
