BREAKING NEWS: Oilers Top Star named NHL’s First Star of the Month
In March, Connor McDavid, the captain of the Edmonton Oilers, made history by tallying seven goals and 24 assists, accumulating a total of 31 points.
This achievement marks him as the first player since Jaromir Jagr with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2000-01 season to reach such a milestone in March. His remarkable performance earned him the title of the NHL’s First Star of the Month.
Throughout the month, McDavid showcased his exceptional skill with five three-point games and a standout four-point performance against the Buffalo Sabres on March 21st.
Currently riding an eight-game point streak, he has accumulated 126 points for the season, trailing only Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche and Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the race for the Art Ross Trophy scoring title, with just one point separating them.
The Oilers enjoyed a successful month, boasting a record of 10 wins, 3 losses, and 2 overtime losses in the 15 games played in March. Much of their success can be attributed to McDavid’s outstanding contributions on the ice.
