BREAKING NEWS: Lawyer: Chiefs’ Star was driving Lamborghini involved in crash
Four individuals sustained minor injuries in a six-car collision that occurred at approximately 6:25 p.m. on Saturday evening in Dallas.
An attorney representing Rashee Rice, a player for the Kansas City Chiefs, informed the press on Thursday that Rice was driving a Lamborghini SUV involved in a crash causing injuries the previous Saturday in Dallas.
Royce West, speaking from Dallas, stated that Rice is fully cooperating with the Dallas police’s investigation into the incident. Video footage from a dashboard camera, captured by another driver, depicts two vehicles, including the Lamborghini SUV and a Chevrolet Corvette, losing control during what appears to be a street racing incident. Earlier in the week, an attorney representing the Lamborghini’s owner informed the Associated Press that they had rented out the SUV to Rice.
Dallas police mentioned on Sunday morning that they were seeking Rice for questioning regarding the crash, as Rice and others allegedly left the scene. However, on Thursday, West mentioned that Rice had sought legal advice and had been in contact with the police and his attorneys since Sunday night.
West characterized Rice as a young individual who had made a mistake, expressing anticipation that the case would eventually be considered by prosecutors for potential charges.
West also stated that Rice would continue to cooperate with the police investigation and would do everything possible to assist other motorists involved in the multiple-vehicle crash in recovering from any injuries or property damage.
Rice took to Instagram on Wednesday to extend his apologies, expressing full responsibility for his actions and pledging ongoing cooperation with the authorities. An NFL spokesperson informed Scripps News Kansas City on Thursday afternoon that the league is closely monitoring the developments in the situation.
