BREAKING: Bills confirms potential Stefon Diggs replacement in latest mock draft
In ESPN’s latest two-round mock draft, Mel Kiper Jr. predicts that the Bills will select LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. with the 28th overall pick, a strategic move for Buffalo’s roster.
Kiper highlighted Thomas’s exceptional performance as a deep threat alongside LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, leading the nation in touchdown receptions with 17, including 10 on go routes or fades. Additionally, Thomas impressed with his impressive 4.33-second 40-yard dash time at the combine, indicating his potential as a top-tier receiver, a much-needed asset for quarterback Josh Allen.
The Bills face a receiver shortage, having recently traded Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans and seeing Gabe Davis depart in free agency. While they signed Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel, neither reached the 1,000-receiving yard milestone in 2023.
With NFL.com’s draft expert Daniel Jeremiah ranking Thomas as the fifth-best wideout in his class, his attributes, such as a sizable catch radius, agility after the catch, and breakaway speed, make him an enticing prospect.

Despite projections suggesting Thomas might be picked earlier by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have the 17th overall selection, the Bills could explore trading up to secure him. Given the importance of replenishing their receiving corps to sustain their Super Bowl aspirations following the Diggs trade, acquiring a dynamic young receiver like Thomas could extend their championship window alongside Allen.
