LATEST REPORT: C.J. Stroud Reveals 3-Word Reaction to Bills Trading Stefon Diggs to Texans
C.J. Stroud remained completely indifferent when he learned that the Buffalo Bills had initially traded All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. He admitted that he needed time to fully process the news because he had been traveling and was completely unaware of the trade when it happened. “I was asleep,” Stroud revealed through reporter Ruben Gamez on X.
Trade Took C.J. Stroud By Surprise
Stroud mentioned that he had just come back from the West Coast and was making up for lost sleep when the Bills and Texans completed their major deal. “I had been in L.A., my hometown on the West Coast, so I was completely out of it,” Stroud explained. “I usually stash my phone under the stairs because I receive tons of calls. So, I was completely unaware. I woke up, and my friend Chase B messaged me, asking, ‘How are you doing, man?'”

Stroud mentioned that he inadvertently dozed off without realizing the significance of the incoming calls regarding the trade. Only later did he become aware of what had transpired.
He expressed his excitement, stating, “It was a thrilling experience to witness it unfold.”
Reflecting on their initial meeting at the Pro Bowl, the Texans quarterback conveyed his eagerness to deepen his connection with Diggs.
“We’ve steadily built our rapport since then,” he remarked. “Transitioning from that encounter to becoming teammates is truly remarkable, and I’m eagerly anticipating collaborating with him.”
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans conveyed the team’s enthusiasm for acquiring Diggs, enhancing an already formidable offense.
“As we evaluated Stefon’s tape, we considered his entire body of work,” Ryans explained through reporter Coty M. Davis on X. “His track record of excellence, including All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors, along with consistent 1,000-yard seasons, excites us about his addition to our roster.”
Bills Moving on After Stefon Diggs Trade
The trade caught many off guard, particularly since Bills GM Brandon Beane had previously affirmed that Diggs remained the team’s primary receiver for the upcoming season. Nonetheless, Beane revealed that ongoing discussions with the Texans led them to finalize the deal when a second-round pick was offered.
Beane stated on April 3, via the team’s official website, that the recent valuation and timing aligned for both parties, prompting them to proceed and seal the agreement.
Despite parting with their top receiver shortly after losing Gabe Davis in free agency, Beane remained steadfast in his belief that the team would remain competitive in the coming season.
He emphasized that every move made, though challenging, was driven by the desire to succeed, with the ultimate goal being victory. Beane stressed that the decision to trade Diggs was not indicative of the Bills giving up or regressing but rather part of a strategy aimed at winning.
