While uncertain about his future destination, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels seems open to the idea of playing for the Raiders, should the opportunity arise. Speaking on the “Nightcap Show” with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, Daniels expressed admiration for Raiders coach Antonio Pierce, citing his intensity and ability to challenge players. Having been recruited by Pierce during his time at Arizona State, Daniels feels a connection to the Raiders, although he remains open to any team that selects him in the draft.

Tankathon’s draft projections currently place Daniels as the second overall pick by the Washington Commanders. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on “The Pat McAfee Show” that Washington’s pre-draft meeting with Daniels included other quarterbacks, potentially causing tension with his agent. If Washington decides against selecting Daniels, the Raiders may consider trading up from their 13th overall pick to acquire him. Additionally, the New England Patriots have reportedly expressed willingness to trade the third overall pick, albeit requiring a significant package in return.

The Raiders would be wise to explore this possibility. Despite the potential high cost, acquiring Jayden Daniels could offer greater potential upside compared to quarterbacks Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew II, who are currently vying for the starting position.

Daniels showcased exceptional performance in 2023, leading the FBS with a remarkable QBR of 95.6 and throwing an impressive 40 touchdown passes in 12 games. This track record suggests that Daniels could be a valuable addition to the Raiders’ roster and provide a significant boost to their quarterback position.
