BREAKING: Yankees announcers troll homeplate umpire after another tirade

The day after Yankees manager Aaron Boone got ejected by home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt due to a fan’s remark, another umpire, John Tumpane, found himself in a similar situation. During the second game against the A’s, Tumpane called a strike on a Marcus Stroman pitch that seemed outside the zone, leading Oakland’s manager Mark Kotsay to express his frustration from the dugout.

Tumpane, in response, asserted his authority, saying, “I’m not discussing the accuracy of pitches. I’m right here, in the thick of it. You’re aware of that.” This prompted Yankees announcers Ryan Ruocco and John Flaherty to humorously compare Tumpane’s actions to Wendelstedt’s the previous day.

Thankfully, Tumpane refrained from ejecting Kotsay, unlike Boone’s ejection the day before. Boone had been criticized for attributing the umpire heckling to a fan, despite evidence from YES Network’s live mic supporting his claim. Wendelstedt clarified his actions, stating that he was addressing an incident at the far end of the dugout, holding Boone responsible for the entire team’s conduct.
