LATEST: Magic’s Top Star Gets Huge Game Boost Update After Injury Scare
Jalen Suggs appears set to take the court for Game 3 after a collision with Donovan Mitchell left him with a knee scare. The Orlando Magic, still in search of their first victory in the 2024 NBA playoffs, will face the Cleveland Cavaliers at home. Despite the injury in the previous game, Suggs seems poised to start the series’ first home game at the Kia Center.
During Game 2, Suggs endured a left knee strain following a collision with Cavaliers’ standout Donovan Mitchell, though it did not force him to exit the game. Despite the Magic’s 96-86 loss, they anticipate Suggs’ presence in the lineup as they aim to protect their home court.
Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley assured that Suggs will not face any limitations in Game 3, according to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews.
Suggs himself expressed feeling good after returning home and enjoying two days off to recuperate.
“I’m feeling good. This short break has been beneficial for me. Being back home, surrounded by our trainers and in our facility just down the street, has allowed me to focus on my physical and mental well-being. The break, along with the sunshine and warm weather, has me feeling really well,” Suggs stated, as reported by Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel.
Jalen Suggs ready to play for Magic in Game 3 vs. Cavs
The significance of having Suggs in the lineup for the Magic cannot be overstated, especially as they prioritize containing star guards Mitchell and Darius Garland. Both are formidable scorers and playmakers who excel at facilitating for their teammates as well.
However, despite the defensive boost Suggs provides, the Magic must address their offensive struggles, shooting a mere 34.3 percent from the field collectively. Suggs himself is shooting a dismal 28.6 percent, the lowest among players in the series who average eight shots per game. Despite leading Orlando with 4.5 assists per game, he needs to rediscover his shooting form from the regular season.
While the Magic are yet to release their official injury report, the Cavs have already ruled out Dean Wade (right knee sprain), Craig Porter Jr. (left ankle sprain), and Ty Jerome (right ankle surgery).
The imperative of avoiding a 0-3 deficit is clear for the Magic as they gear up to take on the Cavs at 7:00 PM EST.
