BREAKING NEWS: Another talented HBCU champs key man agreed huge boost $2.83 million deal with New England Patriots
The New England Patriots have added Terrell Jennings to their roster following his impressive performance at the rookie minicamp. Jennings, who played as a running back for Florida A&M, comes from the defending HBCU national champions. Standing at 6’1″ and weighing 225 pounds, Jennings hails from Duval, FL. In the 2023 season, he rushed for a career-best 673 yards, averaging over five-and-a-half yards per carry, and scored ten touchdowns, contributing significantly to Florida A&M’s SWAC title and their victory over Howard University in the Celebration Bowl. Jennings participated in Florida A&M’s pro day and showcased his skills.
In 2022, Jennings recorded the second-highest rushing yards on his team with 308 yards on 73 carries across ten games, scoring three touchdowns. His 2021 season was equally notable with over 500 rushing yards, five touchdowns, and an average of nearly five yards per carry. Since joining Florida A&M as a freshman in 2019, Jennings amassed more than 1,700 yards and 24 touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per carry throughout his college career.
Despite not being selected in the NFL Draft (a fate shared by most HBCU running backs, with only two drafted since 1998), Jennings earned a minicamp invitation from the Patriots. He capitalized on this opportunity, securing a three-year, $2.83 million contract as an undrafted free agent, according to his agent.
