BREAKING NEWS: Seahawks Signed Contract With Another Star
On Friday, the Seahawks inked a deal with Christian Haynes, a rookie guard hailing from Connecticut who was selected in the third round of the 2024 draft. This move solidified Haynes as the seventh player from Seattle’s eight-member draft class to finalize his rookie contract.
During his tenure at UConn, Haynes showcased his talent as a four-year starter and served as team captain for two years. His impressive record includes starting 49 consecutive games, earning him recognition as a third-team Associated Press All-American twice. The Seahawks anticipate that he will vie for the starting position at right guard.
John Schneider, the Seahawks’ general manager and president of football operations, lauded Haynes’ attributes, describing him as “smart, tough, reliable,” with a remarkable track record of 50 starts. Schneider highlighted Haynes’ qualities such as his length, explosiveness, and prowess in pass protection, emphasizing the excitement within the team about his acquisition.
Schneider also praised Haynes’ agility, ability to maintain position against opponents, and solid grip strength, underscoring his proficiency as a football player. Haynes’ extensive experience, keen understanding of the game’s subtleties, and impressive performance during interviews, particularly with offensive line coach Scott Huff, further impressed the Seahawks’ management.
With Haynes’ signing, the Seahawks have secured agreements with seven of their eight draft picks, leaving only Michael Jerrell, a sixth-round pick from the University of Findlay, to finalize his contract.
