REPORT: Falcons let go of key Linebacker after deep conversation
The Atlanta Falcons have announced the release of outside linebacker Ade Ogundeji following an injury-plagued 2023 season.
Ogundeji had impressive performances in 2021 and 2022 after being drafted in the fifth round. In his rookie year in 2021, he made 11 starts, recording 33 tackles, two quarterback hits, a sack, a pass breakup, and a fumble recovery.
In 2022, he missed only one game, starting in the other 16 and accumulating 42 tackles and two sacks.
High expectations were set for him in 2023, but a foot injury during training camp landed him on the injured list for the entire season.
With his release, the Falcons’ roster now stands at 89 players. Defensive end Kenny Oginni, considered an international player, does not count toward the 90-man limit.
The Falcons are likely to seek another linebacker to fill the gap, but fans will have to wait to find out who will complete the training camp roster.
