BREAKING: Analyst explains why Broncos are fantastic fit for one young QB key man.
After the Denver Broncos released Russell Wilson following two disappointing seasons, Sean Payton and his team faced the task of finding a replacement for the former Super Bowl winner. Despite having Jarrett Stidham as a strong starting option, the Broncos seemed unsatisfied and were expected to recruit a rookie quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft.
With the 12th overall pick, Denver opted for Bo Nix from the University of Oregon, making him the sixth quarterback chosen in the first round, setting an NFL record. Nix, who has been likened to Drew Brees, was the player the Broncos had targeted.
NFL analyst Greg Cosell shared his insights on Nix during a discussion on the “Ross Tucker Podcast,” highlighting Nix’s strengths as a distributor of the ball and an efficient operator of an offense, qualities that align with Sean Payton’s preferences.
“At his core he is not a power thrower he is a ball distributor and an efficient executor of an offense and that is what Sean Payton wants him to do…”@GregCosell breaks down why Denver was such a good fit for QB Bo Nix: pic.twitter.com/0iiNn8DxDF

Certainly, the true measure of the Broncos’ success with Nix will unfold over time, especially in the competition against Stidham during training camp for the starting position. If Nix secures the Week 1 starting spot, the pressure will be immediate, given Payton’s desire for early victories and his reliance on the quarterback to deliver them.
