BREAKING: Newcastle set to launch £15m bid and five-year contract offer for fantastic PL player
According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are preparing a £15m bid for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. Luke Edwards reports that the club is advancing negotiations for the 26-year-old, with hopes of reaching an agreement with Arsenal. Manager Eddie Howe is eager to bring back the player he signed for Bournemouth and strengthen the goalkeeping options following difficulties in Nick Pope’s absence this season.
Newcastle are reportedly ready to offer Ramsdale a five-year contract, while Arsenal are open to selling him to another Premier League club if a suitable fee is agreed upon. Ramsdale has lost his starting position at Arsenal after the arrival of David Raya from Brentford last summer and needs a transfer to revive his career. The debate remains whether Ramsdale is better than Nick Pope; although Ramsdale is younger and better with his feet, some believe Pope is the superior goalkeeper.
Newcastle plan to hold further discussions with Arsenal to finalize the deal and are set to let Martin Dubravka go, with Loris Karius also expected to leave when his contract expires next month.
