The Green Bay Packers may quietly possess one of the best wide receiver groups in the NFL. It took about half a season for first-year starter Jordan Love to build chemistry with his young cohort of first and second-year pass catchers, but by season’s end, the team had multiple wide receivers who posted 100-yard games. While there is ongoing debate about who the team’s number one wide receiver is, the group is content with any one of them having a standout performance on any given Sunday.

One of these wide receivers is Romeo Doubs, who is entering his third season in the NFL. A fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Doubs overcame issues with drops and a sprained ankle that caused him to miss four games as a rookie to become one of the team’s most reliable receivers in 2023.

Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Had a Solid Second Season in the NFL

As many (if not all) NFL fans know, the Packers traded four-time MVP and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets last offseason. This move paved the way for Jordan Love, a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, to take over as the starting quarterback.

With a new quarterback throwing him passes, Romeo Doubs excelled even more in 2023 compared to his rookie season in 2022. Last season, he recorded 59 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns. His reception and yardage totals were second on the team, while his eight touchdowns tied for first place with Jayden Reed.

These numbers marked a significant improvement from his rookie stats of 42 receptions for 425 yards and three touchdowns in 2022.

Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Romeo Doubs Talks About Playing with Jordan Love

On Friday night, Romeo Doubs and Packers legend/Hall of Famer Gilbert Brown were featured at a charity event benefiting Tricia’s Troops Cancer Connection. During the event, Brown interviewed Doubs and asked him what it was like to play with Jordan Love. (Footage via Mayfield Sports Marketing):

During the interview, Doubs said:
“I always tell people that when my reps started with Jordan, not with Aaron, and that is no disrespect to Aaron Rodgers, all I saw was progression. And he [Love] is just looking forward to the day that is in front of him and he stays in the present moment as much as he can.”

After Rodgers was traded last season, Doubs flew out to California, where Love lives during the offseason, so they could start working on their connection.

As evidenced by the improvement in Doubs’ numbers, their efforts paid off.

Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Romeo Doubs Will Participate in the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats”

As mentioned, Doubs and “The Gravedigger” were featured at an event to benefit an organization called Tricia’s Troops Cancer Connection, or Tricia’s Troops for short.

The organization was founded in 2011 by Tricia Wright and her family after Tricia was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer in January of 2010. Throughout her treatment process, Tricia and her family received an overwhelming amount of support from friends and neighbors. Recognizing their fortunate situation, Tricia realized that not everyone battling cancer, or whose families are affected by it, receive the same level of support.

To help others in similar situations, Tricia and her husband decided to start Tricia’s Troops, aiming to support as many cancer patients and their families as possible. Tragically, Tricia lost her battle with cancer in 2012, but her family and friends continue to work on the mission she started over a decade ago.

“My Cause, My Cleats” is celebrated during Weeks 13 and 14 of the NFL season.
