Details from police incident report for arrest of Georgia football WR Sacovie White
Early Saturday morning, an Athens-Clarke County police officer stationed in front of Cloud nightclub in downtown Athens observed Georgia football wide receiver Sacovie White driving a 2021 Dodge Charger the wrong way on East Clayton Street at a high speed, according to a police incident report.
The officer spotted the vehicle around 2:07 a.m., noting that one of the passengers was “partially outside the vehicle,” as per the report obtained by the Athens Banner-Herald.
White was charged with two misdemeanors: reckless driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. He was arrested for the reckless driving charge and released after posting bails totaling $26, spending about an hour in the Clarke County Jail, according to online records.

The incident occurred in an area with “constant pedestrian traffic” and multiple crosswalks, where people often leave bars and look for Uber rides, the report noted. White’s actions displayed “a complete disregard for the safety of his passengers, himself, and innocent civilians,” posing a “significant threat to public safety,” particularly by driving the wrong way and parking near the intersection with North Lumpkin Street.
White, a freshman from Cartersville, complied with the officer’s commands to park the vehicle and turn it off but was subsequently arrested. The officer explained that there had been multiple accidents involving pedestrians and that they were trying to prevent further incidents.
The university has not yet commented on the incident.
