REPORT: 49ers Key Stars Absent From OTAs
The San Francisco 49ers might be facing a potential issue with their wide receivers.
Even though they had one of the strongest rosters in the NFL last year, the 49ers might start the 2024 season without some of their key players.
The team has several player contracts to consider, and due to the salary cap, they can’t extend everyone this offseason.
This has caused some tension between players and the front office, at least from an external perspective.
Players like Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings haven’t signed contract extensions yet, and as Pro Football Talk noted on Twitter, both missed the opening days of team OTAs. While these sessions aren’t mandatory, they are important for team cohesion ahead of the new season.
Aiyuk and Jennings might be holding out for better contract terms, but their absence isn’t aiding the team’s development.
The 49ers reached the Super Bowl last year and are aiming for another successful season in 2024, with hopes of winning the championship.

The NFC will be intriguing to watch in 2024, given the significant player movements during the offseason.
San Francisco can’t afford to lose ground, but if they don’t resolve some of these contract issues, more players might follow Jennings and Aiyuk’s lead.
How the 49ers manage this situation, especially given the star power of the players skipping OTAs, will be crucial for their upcoming season.
