BREAKING: Chicago Cubs confirm another key man. executing a large contract agreement
Once again, the Chicago Cubs are being thorough with their latest acquisition. The team has now added Jackson Tetreault to their roster, marking the second former National to join the Cubs in May, alongside Kyle McGowin.
While it’s uncertain how Tetreault will perform, his recent form attracted attention. He was in talks with the Toronto Blue Jays before eventually signing with the Cubs.
A source tells us that Tetreault had a few teams interested in him besides the Cubs and had advanced talks with the Blue Jays also before choosing the Cubs. Word from one team there was he threw an upper 90s fastball and 3 secondary pitches and was very impressive.

A fractured right scapula has disrupted Tetreault’s career since 2022, leading to a challenging stint with the High-A Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2023. His performance was underwhelming, culminating in his departure from the Nationals’ organization in November.
During the 2024 season, the Cubs have been signing numerous reclamation projects. While not all are expected to succeed, even one making it to the big leagues and contributing would justify the effort.
If Tetreault is that player, it would be a remarkable redemption story given the injury he has had to overcome. With the team struggling, the Cubs are searching for anyone who can step up.
Jackson Tetreault, you're officially a big leaguer.

Tetreault will aim to climb through the Cubs’ system in hopes of returning to MLB. The interest from other teams underscores a positive trend: players seeking to revive their careers view the Cubs as a supportive environment.
The Cubs have indeed fostered a conducive atmosphere for such endeavors, with reliever Mark Leiter Jr. exemplifying the success of their pitching infrastructure.
While signings like Tetreault involve minimal risk, it is high time for the Cubs to pursue more significant organizational upgrades. Greater emphasis should be placed on acquisitions at the trade deadline.
This isn’t to say the team can’t handle multiple priorities simultaneously, but from a fan’s perspective, it’s difficult to get excited about these types of signings alone.
