BREAKING NEWS: Badgers WR key man commits to Rutgers after official visit
The Wisconsin Badgers had a successful initial weekend of official visits, securing commitments from four-star offensive lineman Logan Powell and four-star cornerback Rukeem Stroud on consecutive days.
However, they did not manage to secure one of their targets, as three-star Maryland receiver Vernon Allen committed to Rutgers following his official visit there this weekend.
Allen, a 6’3″, 185-pound wide receiver, had been scheduled to visit Wisconsin next weekend, with subsequent visits to Duke and Syracuse planned later in June.
Instead, he has now committed to Rutgers, which also had a strong first weekend with five new commitments in the past two days.
Meanwhile, the Badgers secured a commitment from four-star wideout Cameron Miller, putting themselves in a strong position for upcoming official visits. Several top targets, including three-star Muizz Tounkara, four-star Eugene Hilton, Miller, and Allen, were set to visit Wisconsin over the first two weekends.
Wisconsin aims to add two more receivers to their class, possibly three, and still has several options available. Three-stars Davion Chandler and Kamren Flowers are expected to visit later in the month.
Focusing on bigger-bodied outside receivers, Wisconsin now loses one with Allen’s commitment elsewhere. Tounkara and Hilton will likely remain top priorities, while Chandler or Flowers could become options depending on how the recruiting landscape evolves.
