HUGE BOOST: Pirates confirm another 26-years old RP superstar signing
The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed left-handed reliever Justin Bruihl and added him to their bullpen ahead of Thursday’s game against his former team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
To make room, right-hander Quinn Priester was placed on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Monday due to a right lat injury, and left-hander Ryan Borucki (wrist) was moved to the 60-day IL.
Bruihl, 26, had a strong season with the Cincinnati Reds’ Triple-A affiliate in Louisville, pitching in 19 games with a 4-0 record and a 2.31 ERA before being released this week.
In his MLB career, Bruihl has made 72 appearances (two starts), holding a 2-2 record and a 4.22 ERA with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2021-23) and Colorado Rockies (2023).
Priester, 23, has struggled this season, going 0-5 with a 4.83 ERA in six starts. Over the past two seasons with the Pirates, he is 3-3 with a 6.61 ERA in 16 appearances (14 starts).
