DONE DEAL: Browns confirm 25-years old superstar huge deal
The Cleveland Browns have shifted their approach regarding Ohio State players. Previously, they appeared to actively avoid selecting Buckeyes, but now, they’ve changed their stance. This trend persisted recently with their signing of Wyatt Davis, who was a third-round pick for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021.

Following his departure from the Minnesota Vikings after a single season, Wyatt Davis had a tumultuous journey in the NFL. He had brief stints with three different teams in 2022, including two spells with the New York Giants. Initially starting on the Giants’ practice squad, he was later signed by the New Orleans Saints for depth on the interior offensive line. However, his tenure with the Saints was short-lived as he played just one game before being waived in November. He was then claimed by the Arizona Cardinals, where he also played one game before facing another waiver. Eventually, Davis returned to the New York Giants, where he remained for the rest of the 2022 season. Although he stayed with the Giants in 2023, his season was cut short due to injury, leading to his placement on injured reserve after clearing waivers.
Browns have had success with Ohio State players recently
Davis joins a cohort of five other former Buckeyes in Cleveland, all of whom have made significant contributions when called upon. Denzel Ward, selected fourth overall in the 2018 draft, stands out as the epitome of success, evolving into one of the premier cornerbacks in the NFL. Dawand Jones, a fourth-round pick in 2023, made a strong impression by starting nine games before being sidelined by injury and placed on the injured reserve list.
Luke Wypler, acquired via the draft last year, made appearances in five games with one start and demonstrated commendable performance. Ronnie Hickman, an undrafted free agent, proved his worth late in the season when called upon, seamlessly fitting into the defense.
The fifth addition to this Ohio State contingent is Mike Hall, Jr., their top pick from the 2024 draft. Hall signed his rookie contract on the same day as Davis’s arrival in Cleveland.
