BREAKING: Top 100 WR key man commits
The University of Georgia significantly bolstered its recruiting class today with the commitment of Talyn Taylor, a top 100 receiver from Geneva (Ill.) Community. The 6-1, 175-pound standout from the class of 2025 chose to join head coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs, leaving Ohio State and Notre Dame as the runners-up in his recruitment.
According to 247Sports, Taylor is ranked as the No. 97 overall player in the nation, No. 13 at his position, and No. 3 in Illinois.
Ahead of his public announcement, Taylor explained his decision to commit to Georgia.
“Georgia is pursuing greatness,” Taylor said, comparing Coach Smart to Nick Saban and praising his vision for the university. “Coach Coley is an excellent offensive coordinator.”
Taylor had felt for a while that Georgia was the right fit, despite having to reconsider due to coaching changes. Ultimately, his heart was set on Athens.
“I knew for a while,” Taylor said. “I wanted to ensure I did my due diligence with every school, visiting them all to find the best fit for me. I felt Georgia had what I wanted.”
What sealed the deal for Taylor was the comprehensive appeal of Georgia.
“They have it all: great academics, great life after football,” Taylor explained. “Their plan for getting you to the NFL and supporting you afterward is impressive.”
During his recent official visit, Taylor spoke with many Georgia players, which reinforced his decision.
“I talked to a lot of guys—Myles Thornton, Dillon Bell, Dominic Lovett, Nitro Tuggle, Colbie Young, Rara Thomas—they all had positive feedback about the school,” Taylor said.
The transition from former receivers coach Bryan McClendon to new coach James Coley also played a crucial role. Coley’s belief in Taylor’s abilities and his detailed coaching approach made a significant impact.
“Coach Coley sees me as a great, versatile receiver,” Taylor said. “He knows I’m coachable and a playmaker, which is fantastic.”
