DONE DEAL: Gophers commit another talented superstar to Badgers’ side
Torin Pettaway, the defensive lineman from Middleton, Wis., initially committed to Wisconsin in March but then changed his mind and committed to the Gophers three weeks later. Now, he has once again switched his commitment back to Wisconsin.
Standing at 6-5 and weighing 265 pounds, Pettaway is considered a three-star recruit. He is ranked as the fifth-best player in Wisconsin and the 64th-best defensive lineman nationally in the 2025 recruiting class, according to the composite ratings from major recruiting services like 247Sports. Pettaway visited Wisconsin officially from May 31 to June 2 and then visited the Gophers last weekend during their “Summer Splash” event.
Following an impressive 2023 season where he tallied 47 tackles and four sacks, Pettaway received scholarship offers from several schools including Nebraska, USC, Rutgers, Illinois, and Washington, in addition to the Gophers and Badgers.
Pettaway’s decision to de-commit from the Gophers leaves them with 17 players committed to their program for the 2025 class. This places Minnesota sixth among Big Ten teams and 21st nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings.
