JUST IN: Alabama Football Adds another talented superstar to Class of 2025
The Alabama football recruitment momentum stays strong as the Crimson Tide secures its second offensive lineman commitment in as many days. On Tuesday, 3-star offensive tackle Mal Waldrep announced his pledge to Alabama, as reported by On3 Sports. His father, also named Mal, was a player for the Crimson Tide from 1998 to 2002.
Waldrep, standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 320 pounds, hails from Central Phenix City High School in Phenix City, Alabama. He ranks as the 21st overall player in Alabama for the Class of 2025. While Rivals rates him as a 4-star prospect, he is considered a 3-star by other recruiting services.
Joining Michael Carroll, Waldrep is the second offensive lineman to commit to Alabama for the Class of 2025. He marks the fourth commitment in a week, joining quarterback Keelon Russell and cornerback Chuck McDonald, along with Carroll.
After an official visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend, Waldrep opted for Alabama over offers from Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson, and others.
With Waldrep’s commitment, Alabama now boasts 14 commits for the Class of 2025, still ranking third nationally according to 247Sports, trailing behind Ohio State and Notre Dame.
Waldrep demonstrated his skills last season as the starting left tackle for the Central Phenix City Red Devils, helping them achieve a perfect 14-0 record and clinch the Alabama Class 7A state championship. Notably, Waldrep played alongside two fellow Alabama Class of 2024 members, Red Morgan and Isaia Faga.
