BREAKING: Dolphins to sign DE superstar
Calais Campbell is not retiring; instead, he’s making a move to Florida. According to reports from NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the six-time Pro Bowler and former Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year will be joining the Miami Dolphins.
While retirement has crossed his mind in previous seasons, Campbell, who will soon turn 38, is embarking on a new chapter with his fifth NFL team. Returning to the Sunshine State where he found success with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017 to 2019, he aims to contribute to the Dolphins’ defensive line, which faces a mix of youth, experience, and injury concerns.
The Dolphins are seeking to bolster their defensive front after key players like Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips suffered season-ending injuries in 2023, and Christian Wilkins departed for the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency. Campbell, known for his positive locker room presence, brings veteran leadership, versatility in playing different positions, and still retains his ability to pressure quarterbacks.
With 6.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss last season with the Atlanta Falcons, Campbell’s performance suggests he still has plenty to offer. Whether this marks his final season or not remains uncertain, but he’s eager to make an impact in Miami as the team pursues its third consecutive playoff appearance.
