BREAKING: Husker signee lands in Top superstar
One of Nebraska basketball’s 2024 recruits will conclude the recruiting period ranked within the Top247. Nick Janowski, a guard from Peawaukee, Wisconsin, is ranked No. 125 in the 2024 247Sports player rankings. He is the No. 23 shooting guard nationally and the No. 2 recruit in Wisconsin.
Janowski, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 200 pounds, ended a stellar senior season with averages of nearly 30 points and eight rebounds per game, becoming Peawaukee’s all-time leading scorer with 2,253 points over four seasons.
“Nick’s competitiveness is remarkable. He knows how to win and understands the effort required to be successful,” said Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg. “He plays for one of Wisconsin’s top programs and has an exceptional work ethic. Nick is a combo guard and one of the best shooters in his class.”
Despite Nebraska overhauling its roster through the transfer portal this spring, Janowski has been a steadfast commit since spring 2023, choosing Nebraska over offers from Georgia Tech, Iowa, Iowa State, Marquette, USC, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin, among others.
“Janowski is productive and plays to his strengths at his own pace,” wrote 247Sports analyst Brandon Jenkins. “He is a great decision-maker on the court, excelling at timely and accurate passes within the flow of an offense. He is effective both with and without the ball, making him an ideal secondary ball-handling option in the Big Ten. Janowski is also a reliable shooter and a threat from beyond the arc.”
Janowski is one of two high school recruits for the Huskers’ 2024 class, joined by Lincoln Southwest forward Braden Frager, who reclassified to the 2024 class and signed with Nebraska in November.
“I just felt like it’s the right place. The staff is great, and the development I’m going to get is top-notch,” Frager told Husker247. “I feel like the program is on the rise, and it’s a great time to join.”
